The Best Type of Session for Your Family
Your family photo shoot is about YOU. It’s about what resonates with you and what photographer is going to collaborate and preserve your family’s love story in a way that’s authentic to who you are.
When I first talk with a family about their photography session, I want to hear about their family and what makes them tick. Your photo session should reflect your family and ideals, not someone else’s.
And the reality is that when you hire a photographer, you need to make sure that their style and personality fits with yours.
After you’ve figured those items out, the next step is to determine what makes sense for you- an outdoor shoot in the river or desert; a shoot in the comfort of your own home (perhaps with a splash in the pool!); an adventure session, or a documentary style shoot capturing the beauty in the chaos of the day to day.
Outdoor Session:
The environment in the Greater Phoenix and Scottsdale area of Arizona is so incredibly diverse and varied. When we chat, we coordinate the location based upon what resonates with you, your location in the valley, and the ages of your children. Open desert, fields, river, urban, boulders? Let’s do this. You can learn more about choosing the right location for you in the link below, as well as checking out the blog posts on the links in the pictures below.
In-home Session:
There is so much beauty in the home you are creating for your family- it’s where you will remember laughing at the kitchen table or snuggling on the couch. It has all the special touches of your family- from your children’s artwork and stuffies to your pets. I’ve also found that most children warm up faster when they’re on their own turf. Adventure Session:
These sessions allow you to put your phone down and capture all the fun during your family outing- from hikes to creek splashing to camping- I’m there to capture your family in your element- playing, connecting, and having fun. There is zero stress about outfits or children’s “cooperating” because it’s all about playing, exploring, and fun.
Day in the Life:
These sessions are a step out of the box for many families. These are PURELY documentary sessions- I am a fly on the wall (kind of like your own personalized paparazzi, only less creepy).
As adults, we get swept up in our day to day grind and fail to appreciate the beauty in it all- from cooking a meal to swimming in your pool to rocking your baby to sleep to a trip to the grocery store- these sessions embrace the beauty in the chaos and daily grind of your family, and show you just how incredible the world you created truly is.
However you decide to have your family photographed, the most important thing is that you do- get in the frame, preserve those memories, embrace the chaos, and know that you are providing a lifelong treasure for your family to enjoy for generations to come.
Are you ready to collaborate and preserve your love story?
There’s no better time than now.
